Tycko & Zavareei LLP is seeking a sharp, organized, and driven Paralegal to join its Oakland office—on a full-time hybrid basis—and support its attorneys in high-impact cases. POSITION OVERVIEW:
- Location: Oakland, CA (Hybrid— typically 2–3 days in-office/week)
- Schedule: Full-time (Monday–Friday, 40-hours/week with occasional overtime) | Hourly | Nonexempt
- Start Date: May 12, 2025 (Preferred)
- Base Salary Range: $65,000–$85,000/year, commensurate with experience
- Priority Deadline: April 23, 2025—applications reviewed on a rolling basis
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Provide case support for complex civil litigation, including discovery, filings, and court prep
- Assist attorneys with administrative and substantive legal tasks across multiple active matters
- Conduct basic legal factual research, organize and manage case files, and maintain attorney calendars
- Liaise with clients, other law firms, courts, and vendors
- Coordinate complex briefings and electronically file pleadings and motions in accordance with court local rules and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure
- Participate in team meetings
- Provide ad hoc assistance to CA office operations
- Occasional overtime when needed—this is litigation, after all
- At least one year of professional experience in a legal-support role (paralegal, legal assistant, paralegal intern, paralegal trainee, or similar) under the supervision of a qualified attorney (required)
- Bachelor’s degree, with strong academic performance, from an accredited college or university (preferred)
- 1–4 years of experience in a fast-paced civil litigation firm or other legal-support setting (law firm, court, nonprofit, government, etc.)
- Strong writing, research, organizational, and communication skills
- Proactive and detail-oriented; comfortable juggling deadlines and shifting priorities
- Self-motivated and able to manage independent workloads—this role involves working closely with attorneys but often handling assignments solo
- Comfort working independently in-office as the one paralegal in our Bay Area location, while being part of a collaborative, supportive team of legal support staff (based in other locations)
- A team-first attitude—we value collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and mutual support, even across time zones and screens
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, legal research platforms (e.g., Lexis, Westlaw), and electronic filing systems
- Comfortable with a high-volume of emails and calls
- Must be willing and able to reliably commute to our Oakland office 2–3 days/week
- Available to start May 12, 2025 (preferred)
